Peter Zimmerer knows the challenges of software testing in practice – and has for many years. After studying computer science, he switched to industry and joined Siemens AG, where he was involved in the testing and quality engineering of large software systems in the central research and development department from the very beginning. These tasks still define his professional career today.
In his role as Principal Key Expert Engineer at Siemens Technology, the Stuttgart native drives the topics of software testing and quality engineering throughout the company. He works as a consultant, coach and trainer to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of testing through the use of innovative processes and strategies.

To this end, he is deeply involved in all facets of testing. He has passed the Certified Tester exam at Foundation and Full Advanced Level and also has extensive knowledge and experience of standards and methods used worldwide. Peter Zimmerer is also passionate about developing new, innovative test approaches and then putting them into practice in a pragmatic way. He has developed several test automation systems at Siemens; some of the methods they contain have even been patented, including one for testing concurrent systems.

As a member of the GTB, the computer science graduate is pursuing the goal of further increasing the practical relevance of software tester training. He knows from his own experience how this can be achieved: As the person responsible for testing and quality topics in Siemens’ own qualification and certification program for (senior) software architects and test architects, he himself designed and implemented curricula, training courses and examinations in a practical manner.
