Dietrich Leimsner
GTB Members present themselves
Vice chairman of GTB
Dietrich Leimsner likes to talk about the tester’s “dirty imagination”, which cannot be replaced by machines, when he explains why, even in times of test automation and AI-supported test case generation, the human element of the trained software tester must not be missing in comprehensive software quality assurance.
He has been working at DB Systel GmbH, a Deutsche Bahn AG company, since 1999. With the ticket vending machines, which were still quite new at the time, he became familiar with the appeal and challenges of comprehensive quality assurance directly at the interface between the digital (the sales data record) and the physical (the actual ticket). As a result, he has been working exclusively on this topic in various large systems with board and customer visibility since 2006.
In 2014, Dietrich Leimsner took over the design and further development of DB Systel’s test process and responsibility for the associated methods and tools. In this context, he now deals with the challenges of software quality assurance and how this is perceived when the company reorganizes its structure and project organization according to agile principles.
Dietrich Leimsner has been deputy chairman of the GTB since 2022 and is involved in the working groups Professional Profile Tester, Glossary and Business Development. He also actively represents GTB and DB Systel in the specialist group “Test, Analysis and Verification of Software” (TAV) of the German Informatics Society (GI) and represents GTB on the Board of Trustees of the German Award for Software Quality (DPSQ).
