“It’s not about testing as much as possible – it’s about testing the right thing.”
This is the motto under which Annette Simon worked for more than 10 years at the world’s leading independent software quality specialist, the SQS Software Quality Systems AG in Cologne, which was merged into the Expleo Group in February 2019.
In the course of her career, she has had the opportunity to help shape the software quality assurance industry from various different business sectors. Her work in the training and conference business gave her deep insights into the world of the ISTQB® as well as other certification offerings and enabled her to build a solid network at events and conferences.
In her involvement in the establishment and continuous further development of the company’s own test standard (SQS-PractiQ®) and the design of the associated certification process, she benefited from the experience previously gained in the training sector. Ms. Simon also played an active role in setting up SQS’s own research department and enhancing the company’s service portfolio with the results of government-funded research projects. In her responsibility for the field of ” Cooperation with Universities and Universities of Applied Sciences”, she has supported many students throughout their studies to achieve a practice-oriented degree.
Since January 2020, Ms. Simon has been working as a research assistant at the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft e.V. in the area of project management and controlling and supports the affiliated institutes (e.g. FOKUS, IAIS, FIT) in the efficient handling of funding and research projects. In addition, she coordinates the further development of the Fraunhofer-specific SAP S4/HANA landscape and integrated cloud solutions at departmental level.
In addition to her professionally oriented certifications, e.g., the “ISTQB® Certified Tester”, “ISTQB® Certified Test Manager” and “Certified Professional for Project Management”, she does not shy away from checking her own personal performance: She has already passed several ballet examinations of the Royal Academy of Dance London. “It is wonderful that there are standards in so many areas of life by which one can measure and be measured, both against oneself and in a fair comparison with others.”
