After successfully completing the 3- or 4-day (intensive) ISTQB® Certified Tester training course based on the very latest syllabus, version 4.0, you will be able to successfully apply the techniques covered, such as equivalence partitioning. You will be able to design, plan and carry out reviews and tests tailored to individual projects. You will also be better equipped to assess risks relating to business processes. You will be familiar with the key testing terms and the international norms and standards relevant to testing. You will know how to create meaningful defect reports, monitor the defect correction process, perform confirmation testing efficiently, and plan, organize and manage reviews. You will be able to select appropriate test tools and understand what to consider when introducing them. Overall, the training provides knowledge and techniques that, when applied appropriately, lead to a structured, systematic approach to reviewing and testing. This results in improved software quality and cost savings. Compared with the previous syllabus, which focused on the V-model—a sequential, phase-based approach emphasizing predefined test levels and formal validation and verification—the agile practices covered in the new CTFL 4.0 syllabus from 2023, such as acceptance test-driven development (ATDD), the whole-team approach and continuous integration, enable more flexible and responsive development by promoting continuous collaboration, iterative improvements and early feedback.
